Text Box: LEAD ARTICLE: A PURPOSE, A VISION AND A MISSION BY PASTOR DENNIS KUHNS
Text Box: “Membership Manual” of 1996. A page and one half outlines the purpose, which is to:
     1) Celebrate God’s presence through worship
     2) Encourage God’s family through
	fellowship
     3) Educate God’s people in
	discipleship
     4) Demonstrate God’s love in ministry
     5) Communicate God’s Word through evangelism
On a green sheet in the same manual there was a Missions Statement that reads: (Continued on page 3)
Text Box: In our bulletin there is the statement: “A Church with a purpose.” When I first came to Lynside, I wondered where that phrase came from. Since we are a church, one would conclude that our purpose had something to do with Jesus and proclaiming his Gospel. But I had no explanation of the context for the statement.

When Ed Bontrager was consulting with us, he asked people what they thought it meant. A number of good responses were given. One person remembered that the purpose statement was outlined in the Text Box: Lindsey Brown and Brian Fletcher would like to invite our church family to come and share in the exchange of our Wedding vows on Saturday, May 22nd at 1:30 at Lynside Mennonite Church, following will be a reception held in the old sanctuary. Please come and witness the beginning of our new life together.
Text Box: SONshine Day (VBS) is being planned for June 19th from 10:00am to 7:30pm. Games, crafts, music and drama will be centered around Noah and the flood.
